I do! I am totally falling for Twitter as my social media tool of choice. Well, that may not be fair since I haven’t given any other platforms much of a trial, but I chose to start out with Twitter because I instantly liked it. (Which isn’t the case with Facebook, about which I’m still skeptical!) I’m one of those people who hung out in college far too long, being a lover of learning, growing, engaging. Since I work from home now, I am prone to feeling socially isolated.
Hanging out on Twitter is like joining in on the hottest discussions on a college campus. (Only better because now I am over my love affair with academia.)
I love signing on and looking over brief glimpses of conversation offered by inspiring people. I love following interesting conversations and I am just beginning to join in. I read here that the best way to grow a following on Twitter is to let it happen organically. Perfect! A few people are beginning to follow me and I’m just happy that I’m connecting. When I saw Danielle LaPorte’s name among my short list of followers, I thought WOW I must be doing something right!
Click to Tweet makes it easy for readers to share your message on Twitter. This tool is producing a 500% increase in Twitter shares for Tara Gentile!
For now I am observing how people use Twitter: what turns me on, what turns me off. I am drawn-in by inspiring quotes, links to thoughtful articles, references to music, art, film, literature. I am put-off by perpetual self-promotion, negativity, banality. I have a ton to learn, but I’m definitely committed to having a presence on Twitter. Now that I know I want to make this a long term practice, I’m going to consider the tips for time management on Twitter by Erin Giles via Design Sponge.
What’s your take on Twitter? I would love to hear about what is working for you, or maybe what isn’t. I find all things Social Media super-duper interesting!
